The Buttonwood Tree

Look at what The Buttonwood Tree has accomplished in 2009: * Kids Arts Summer Camp Sponsored by the City of Middletown’s Commission on the Arts. A 5 week creative arts camp for the city’s youth, ages 6-14. A sample of their artwork hangs on our ceiling. * 79 concerts with over 395 musicians and a total audience of more that 3500 * 8 artists’ receptions, for 20 visual artists For some of them this was their first exhibition! * 40 poetry, theatre and dance events * 42 Open Mics for poetry, music and any form of personal artistic expression * 50 workshops and classes - Chess, Creative Writing, Yoga and much more * 78 community gatherings, salons and book signings * A grant received for the Food Not Bombs food-sharing program. 51 meals shared. * Free or reduced rental rates for the Green School (for over 60 home-schooled children and their parents), youth poetry groups, Free At Last Players and other non-profit groups * A North End neighborhood fund-raising event with over 25 performers, in tribute to our wonderful founder, Susan Allison. This May 8th event raised thousands of dollars. * Keeping the bookstore open 3 to 7 days a week, even through much of the summer Your financial contribution will enable North End Arts Rising / TBT to: • Maintain a continuing presence in the North End, serving the needy in our community • Contribute to the revitalization of Middletown • Support artists and our programs • Assist non-profit groups using our space. This service is growing rapidly! • Support our general operating budget
