Infrastructure Investment:
Extensive streetscape and infrastructure improvements are in progress
in the Downtown Business District. A new landmark police station was completed
on Main Street in 1999, the same year as a modern, multiplex movie
theater opened. A new hotel, the Inn at Middletown, opened in
October 2003. Façade improvements, both private and public, enhance the aspect of
Main Street. The installation of period street lighting and new sidewalks with textured paving is under way and landscaping beautifies the environment.
